The Cork Jazz Festival
The Cork Jazz Festival
The Cork Jazz Festival is an annual music festival held in Cork City in late October. The festival is Ireland's biggest jazz event and attracts hundreds of musicians and thousands of music fans to the city each year.
The first festival began on 27 October 1978, founded by Jim Mountjoy, and has been held every year since. In the 1980s Guinness became the major sponsor. Since the 1990s, average annual festival visitor numbers have exceeded 40,000 - with visitors travelling from many parts of the world. In 2016, over 1,000 musicians from 20 countries were scheduled to perform to more than 40,000 visitors.
The Guinness Cork Jazz Festival will return on 28th – 31st October 2022 for the 44th time with a host of new acts, venues, and experiences to surprise and delight attendees. This year’s line-up is said to be incredibly special with some of the biggest names in jazz gracing the stage for what is set to be the most magnetic Guinness Cork Jazz Festival we have seen yet. Internationally renowned, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival features over 1,000 musicians in dozens of performances in venues citywide over the weekend.
